The following film is particularly relevant in light of current events in the media in South Africa. Studies are now finding that Intimate Partner Violence/ Spousal Abuse is the leading cause of death for South African Women. On average, every 8 hours a woman dies from IPV. The youths from the Bonisiwe Field Project wanted to draw attention to this shocking fact, but also encourage women in their communities to seek justice for violence against them, as many of these instances go unreported, which often allows the situation to escalate to death.
Xenophobia is a globally relevant topic, but it particularly resonates for the young people in Gauteng and they have decided to make a film around some connected issues.
